Specific to the job: Technical support
 
It is a type of statement of employee characteristics which shows the different qualifications required when applying for a suitable job. It also offers a description of the required performance for completing certain tasks and duties.  In regard to the Rainbow organisation this might include duties such as providing technical support for the users like explaining to them how to turn on the computer or play the DVD/CD etc. As an IT technician working with partially sighted clients I would have to make sure that the technology provided is suitable for this user group. For example the IT technician should be able and know how to record speaking books by using correct software and devices such as microphones. The technician should be able to train the clients from the Rainbow centre to learn how to use correct software and devices which connect into the computer. IT technician should be able to record any problems which show up by logging them.
 
Also the IT technician should take action such as sending emails to their clients and suppliers or by phoning them in order to solve their clients’ problems and enquiries.
 
 IT technician should be able to handle many phone calls a day which means they should have good verbal communication skills and good stress management skills in order to communicate effectively with their clients and suppliers.
 
Job specification is for potential employees is to see if they want to do that job and are they suitable for the job which means do they have the right skills and qualifications in order to apply for the job. The job specification also is the basis for the review of an employee’s performance.
 
 
 

 

General soft skills: Team Working

 

Team working is a process of working collaboratively in groups in order to achieve targets .Team working is a very important in any organization. It is especially important in organization like Rainbow Center which uses a lot of volunteers so it most often is necessary to work in teams together and trying to achieve their best in any circumstances. Team working also means that people will try to cooperate using their individual skills and providing constructive feedback to each other.

Soft skills are personal attributes that show an individual’s ability to interact with other people, how they perform their job, they are important to enhance a person’s career prospects. Soft skills are mainly about what the personal skills are and how a person can interact and communicate. Most jobs are looking for a person who has good soft skills and that person should be:


Optimistic: which means being always positive and show positive thinking such as ‘’ I can certainly complete this task etc’’ and try to encourage other people to think in a similar way. This would especially important for the Rainbow centre because IT technician will have to communicate well with the clients of the centre who are partially sighted and also with volunteers.

1.    Common sense: this is important for problem solving and also be able to adapt to a new situation and changes without panicking.

2.    Responsibility: which means a worker should take responsibility while doing certain activities or tasks in their jobs.

3.    A good sense of humor: the client group of the Rainbow centre they have to cope with difficult circumstances and humor is important especially because they have already a hard life. Generally it would be boring to work with a person who has not got a good sense of humor.

4.    Written, Verbal & Non-Verbal Communication Skills:

These are the types of personalities and the soft skills which employers are most often looking for in employees. The employees should be able to work well in groups and teams and try her/him self to be always positive, resourceful and brave.

 

 

Personal attitudes: Independence and Confidence:



In rainbow light charity employers should look for employees who are capable of being independent while they are working. By being independent the employee should be able to do his/her job by her/him self with out relying on other workers.



Also an employee should have self confidence which can lead to self motivation and believing self that he/she can do that job and work with other people especially in Rainbow charity an employee should have self confidence to be able to work with people around them and complete their task which is given with out any problems.

Every employee should have a positive attitude as nobody likes to work with a person who always rude and not nice to other people etc. Attitude helps to reflect ourselves and what we can do. Having a positive attitude an employee can make other people around them feel and a better positive attitude can improve the employees working skills and work quality.
